Influential Images
I did my own version of this image trickery in traditional with a 17 year old, aspiring to be a make-up artist.
Her make-up was beautiful and elegant, and her hair fell naturally around her face.
I asked her to look deeply into the camera, like Stezakers model.
I was very happy with my idealised image- it was a modern version of Stezakers- I was influenced to do this because I recently visited the National Art Gallery where 'Seduced by Art' was on exhibition- which is basically modern photographers using old photographers work in aspiration of their own.

Gillian Wearing
Gillian Wearing is a Portrait photographer that interestingly uses text within her images. I really like this effect as the image is speaking out, and the portraits are very powerful!
I would like to experiment with this in my digital work, by asking different aged models to say something about themselves/what they worry about/what are their aspirations/how they want to be remembered.
I have concentrated on 'Generations' in my overall personal study, so a contrast in this will be nice.
DIGITAL - Portraiture
Throughout my traditional personal study, I have been experimenting with the likes of John Stezakers experimental portraiture, as it is not conventional, the way he splices images.
I have decided for digital I am going to continue splitting images, to see the effect as there will be more interesting colours to work with, also this should be made easier on photoshop.
I am also going to focus on looking at portraiture without the need of cutting them up, as some in traditional were a good shot, without this.
Photographers I am going to look at are:

'Generations'
I have chosen to study John Stezakers experimental portraiture, but I have chosen to base it on 'generations'.
I think this will be interesting as I will be splitting the images up, which can show a contrast in age, gender, family, personality... and it goes on!!

John Stezaker- My Personal Study
I have chosen to study John Stezaker, as his portraiture work stood out to me and I liked his themed 'marriage' series.

Jim Goldberg- INFLUENCE
Jim Goldberg (born 1953) is an American photographer and writer whose work reflects long-term, in-depth collaborations with neglected, ignored, or otherwise outside-the-mainstream populations.
Jim Goldberg is best known for his book, Raised By Wolves, published in 1995, an impressionistic and often graphic document of the 10 years he spent photographing the young homeless of San Francisco. Now comes Open See, the book and accompanying exhibition, both part of a still-ongoing project about what Goldberg calls the "new Europeans" – illegal immigrants, refugees, displaced people and asylum seekers from Africa, the Middle East and eastern Europe
Quote: "I have the great privilege of being both witness and storyteller.
Intimacy, trust and intuition guide my work."

My only agenda,' says the photographer Jim Goldberg, 'is to bring attention to otherwise ignored and shunned lives.' The 57-year old California-based professor of art and longtime member of the illustrious Magnum photo agency has spent some 30 years immersing himself in the tangled lives endured by those on the margins
